Marianne Vos Victorious at UCI Gravel World Series Aachen

Marianne Vos, riding for Visma-Lease a Bike, showcased her dominance in gravel cycling by winning the women’s race at the UCI Gravel World Series in Aachen, Germany. The race, held last weekend, marked the first competitive outing for Vos in her Gravel World Championships jersey.
Vos completed the 122-kilometer course in 3 hours, 37 minutes, and 10 seconds. The course featured a 61km loop with 65% gravel and 790 meters of elevation gain per lap. She finished 2 minutes and 25 seconds ahead of the chase group.
Larissa Hartog of ZZPR.nl Orange Babies secured second place in a sprint,followed by Romy Kasper from Human Powered Health.Irina Lützelschwab (Team Bulls Schweiz) finished fourth.
In the men’s race, Niels vandeputte (Alpecin-Deceuninck) emerged victorious after a sprint finish among a leading group of seven. Jonas Koch (Red Bull-Bora Hansgrohe) and Felix Stehli (Team Vorarlberg) completed the podium.
The race began with rain, but conditions improved as approximately 1,600 cyclists traversed the Eifel region. However, deteriorating weather on Sunday led to the cancellation of the 3RIDES Gran Fondo for safety concerns.
The UCI Gravel World Series event in Aachen was the last of six qualifying rounds in May for the UCI Gravel World Championships. Another six events are scheduled throughout June.
