UDLAP Celebrates Love & Friendship with Cultural Events & Museum Night 2026

Puebla, Mexico – The Universidad de las Américas Puebla (UDLAP) marked Valentine’s Day and the broader season of love and friendship with a diverse series of cultural events, culminating in the university’s participation in the inaugural Noche de Museos (Night of Museums) in .

The celebrations, which unfolded throughout the week, included a campus-wide commemorative event featuring photo booths, ceramic painting, tote bag and cookie decorating, board games, and food vendors. These activities aimed to strengthen bonds within the UDLAP community and beyond. The university also hosted a performance of Crónicas de una romántica empedernida (Chronicles of a Hopeless Romantic), a play written by Alexa Pulido, in the Guillermo y Sofía Jenkins Auditorium.

Crónicas de una romántica empedernida, described as an original production that invites audiences to reflect on, feel, and laugh about the different ways of loving, featured Ximena Ontiveros Juárez, Alexa Pulido herself, and Ana Paola Ferrer Nieto as Delirio, Lucidez, and Alegría – characters embodying distinct emotions and perspectives on love. The play has enjoyed a growing profile, having been part of the Teatro LAB project, presented at the Teatro Gabriel Pastor as part of UDLAP’s Cultura UDLAP programming, featured in last year’s Concierto del Amor y la Amistad (Concert of Love and Friendship) at the university, and premiered in at the Teatro Melpómene in Puebla City.

The university’s commitment to the arts extends beyond theatrical productions. UDLAP recently inaugurated its Primavera 2026 (Spring 2026) cultural season by hosting the preparation and concert of the winners of the MetOpera Laffont Competition Distrito México , as reported earlier this year. This event served as a prelude to the regional competition in Denver, Colorado. Joaquín Cruz Martínez, director of Actividades Culturales de la UDLAP, highlighted the importance of international collaborations in fostering artistic excellence, noting that the university becomes a destination for competition winners to prepare.

“The speaking of the collaboration of foreigners in our country speaks very well of cultural projects, because just that is what we have to look for in the relationships with other countries, relationships that generate a virtuous synergy, and this project demonstrates it; proof of this is that when the boys win the competition, they come to prepare here at the university,” Cruz Martínez stated.

The university’s cultural programming isn’t solely focused on performance. On , the Capilla del Arte UDLAP participated in the first edition of Puebla’s Noche de Museos. The cultural space, located in the historic center of Puebla City, opened its doors from 11:00 to 20:00, offering visitors access to the collective exhibition “Habitar el umbral: cuerpo, memoria y territorio en diálogo” (Inhabiting the Threshold: Body, Memory and Territory in Dialogue). Attendees were also invited to participate in a fanzine-making workshop at 16:30.

The Noche de Museos participation underscores UDLAP’s broader engagement with the city’s cultural landscape. The university’s ongoing Primavera 2026 season promises a continued stream of artistic and cultural events, solidifying its role as a key cultural hub in Puebla. The events surrounding Valentine’s Day demonstrate a deliberate effort to connect academic pursuits with community engagement and artistic expression, offering a diverse range of experiences for students and the wider public.

The university’s soccer team, the Aztecas, also played a match against UDEM on as part of the 2025-2026 season, adding a sporting element to the day’s activities.
