Uganda’s Presence at IBTM World 2025
A delegation from Uganda, spearheaded by the Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) and the Uganda Convention Bureau (UCB), participated in IBTM World 2025. They were joined by ten private-sector companies specializing in the MICE sector. The Ugandan contingent showcased the country’s diverse capabilities, including modern convention centers, luxury accommodations, professional conference organizers (PCOs), destination management companies (DMCs), safari lodges, and specialized incentive travel services.
Strategic Focus on MICE Tourism
UTB and UCB are actively working to position Uganda as a competitive destination for the MICE market. this strategy aims to diversify tourism revenue streams beyond conventional wildlife safaris and cultural experiences. The MICE sector offers the potential for higher-value tourism, attracting business travelers who contribute substantially to the local economy.
According to the International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), the global MICE market was valued at approximately $828 billion in 2023 and is projected to reach $1.43 trillion by 2032. Capturing even a small percentage of this market could have a substantial impact on Uganda’s economy.
