Netherlands Ambassador lauds Uganda’s Investment Role and Climate

Kampala, Uganda – Ambassador Frederieke Quispel of the Netherlands met with col. Edith Nakalema, head of the State House Investors Protection Unit (SHIPU), to discuss enhancing investor protection and promoting investment opportunities in Uganda. The meeting, held at SHIPU headquarters, focused on the crucial role of foreign direct investment and the importance of a conducive investment climate.
Col. Nakalema acknowledged the Netherlands’ role in promoting Uganda’s investment opportunities. She emphasized the importance of collaboration in guiding and protecting investors. A key topic was the Electronic Investors Protection Portal (EIPP), which Nakalema said has boosted Uganda’s foreign direct investment by 80 percent. She requested Ambassador Quispel to advocate for the EIPP among Dutch investors, highlighting its role in safeguarding against fraudulent activities and providing a secure channel for addressing investor concerns.
Ambassador Quispel commended Uganda for its investment climate and entrepreneurial spirit. She noted the strong bilateral relations between the two countries and the presence of numerous Dutch companies,both large and small,operating in Uganda. The ambassador highlighted opportunities beyond agriculture, including the technology sector.
