INDIANAPOLIS — The University of Indianapolis men’s tennis team secured a decisive 7-0 victory over Walsh University on Sunday, February 8, 2026, continuing their strong start to the season. The match, held in Indianapolis, saw the No. 17 ranked Hounds dominate in both doubles and singles play, demonstrating a comprehensive team performance.

The Hounds established early control by sweeping the doubles point. The pairing of Tadeo Gaggiofatto and Zaid Shelbaya defeated Ethan Milgan and Lukas Kohler 6-2 on court two. Asier Ayllon Prado and Mathieu Derache followed with a 6-3 win over Joan Dasi and Ross Trias at the number one doubles position. The sweep was completed by Lorenzo Di Cursi and Jovan Matovic, who overcame Nicolas Stroehle and Ben Hoffman 6-4 on court three.

The momentum carried into the singles matches, where Indianapolis secured straight-set victories across the board. No. 20 ranked Asier Ayllon Prado led the charge, defeating Ross Trias 6-3, 6-0 at number one singles. Shortly after, No. 21 ranked Tadeo Gaggiofatto secured a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Joan Dasi at the number two position. Mathieu Derache continued the winning streak, defeating Nicolas Stroehle 6-3, 6-2 at number three singles.

The Hounds’ dominance continued with freshman Jovan Matovic securing a 6-4, 6-2 win over Lukas Kohler on court four. Gorbatenko achieved his first win as a Hound, defeating Ethan Milgan 6-2, 6-1 at number five singles. Finally, Lorenzo Di Cursi completed the shutout, winning 6-1, 6-2 against Fedor Kuzntzov at number six singles.

This victory for the University of Indianapolis follows a recent match against Maryville University on April 19, 2025, where they also competed against the pairing of Asier Ayllon Prado and Tadeo Gaggiofatto. The team also participated in the ITA Midwest Regionals in September 2025, facing opponents such as Walsh and Grand Valley State.

The University of Indianapolis men’s tennis program has a history of strong performances in regional competitions, as evidenced by Nils Hoffacker’s win at the ITA Regional in September 2017. The current team appears to be building on that legacy, demonstrating both individual skill and cohesive teamwork.

The Hounds will next host Charleston University on Wednesday, February 1st, at 1 PM, providing another opportunity to showcase their talent and continue their winning streak. The match will be a key test for the team as they navigate the early stages of the season and prepare for upcoming challenges.

The consistent performance of players like Asier Ayllon Prado and Tadeo Gaggiofatto, combined with the emergence of new talent such as Jovan Matovic, positions the University of Indianapolis as a team to watch in the DII men’s tennis landscape.
