UK Bible Sales Surge to Record High in 2025
bible sales in the United Kingdom reached £6.3 million in 2025, marking the highest annual figure as 2008 and signaling a potential spiritual shift, according to data released by SPCK Group, a Christian publisher.
The total value of Bible sales more than doubled as 2019, increasing by 134 percent. Volume also rose substantially, with a 106 percent increase in the number of Bibles sold during the same period. This data suggests a renewed interest in faith among the UK population.
“This is further evidence of a significant cultural shift regarding matters of faith and religion in this country,” said Sam Richardson, CEO of SPCK Group.
Richardson attributed the increase to a combination of factors, including worldwide political and social changes, the lingering effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, global conflicts, the rise of artificial intelligence, and a growing mental health crisis. He noted that these factors are prompting individuals to re-examine questions of meaning and spirituality.
The rise in Bible sales contrasts with previous trends. The 2021 census in England and Wales revealed that only 46.2% of the population identified as christian, a substantial decrease from the 70% recorded in 2001. This suggests a potential reversal of the decline in Christian affiliation.
Recent reports also indicate a growing number of young peopel are attending churches seeking healing, freedom, and deliverance, further supporting the idea of a spiritual awakening. Premier Christian News reported on this trend in January 2026.
