The Wireless music festival in London has been cancelled following the decision by the United Kingdom government to bar the artist known as Ye, formerly Kanye West, from entering the country.
Ye had been booked to headline all three days of the festival scheduled for July 2026. The cancellation follows a deepening political row regarding the rapper’s previous antisemitic statements.
Travel Ban and Home Office Decision
The U.K. Home Office blocked Ye’s entry after he applied for an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) on April 7, 2026. Officials refused the application on the grounds that his presence in the United Kingdom would not be conducive to the public good
.
The decision comes after significant backlash and public disputes regarding the artist’s planned appearance. Several British politicians spoke out against the booking and major sponsors began pulling out of the event prior to the government’s intervention.
Wireless Festival Response
In a statement issued on April 8, 2026, the Wireless festival confirmed the event would no longer take place and announced that all ticket holders would receive automatic full refunds.

The Home Office has withdrawn Ye’s ETA, denying him entry into the United Kingdom. Wireless festival is cancelled and refunds will be issued to all ticket holders.
Wireless Festival Statement
The festival organizers stated that multiple stakeholders were consulted before booking Ye and that no concerns were highlighted at that time. They further noted that antisemitism in all its forms is abhorrent
and acknowledged the personal impact of these issues.
Presale tickets for the event had been released at midday on April 7, 2026, and were believed to have sold out before the general sale was scheduled to open on April 8, 2026.
Context of the Controversy
The ban is rooted in a series of controversial comments made by Ye over several years, including antisemitic, racist, and pro-Nazi remarks. In 2022, he posted on social media that he would go death con 3 On Jewish people
.
During a 2022 appearance on a podcast hosted by Alex Jones, Ye also stated, I see good things about Hitler
.
The planned Wireless performances were intended to be part of an attempted comeback that included the release of a new album and several shows in North America. Ye had not performed in the U.K. Since he headlined Glastonbury in 2015.
On April 7, 2026, Ye offered to meet and listen
to members of the Jewish community in the U.K. The festival statement noted that Ye acknowledges words alone are not enough
and expressed his hope to begin a conversation with the community despite the travel ban.
