A series of attacks targeting Jewish communities in the United Kingdom, including arson and stabbings, are under investigation for potential links to Iran, according to British authorities. The incidents, which began last month with the burning of four ambulances belonging to a Jewish charity, have prompted heightened security concerns and condemnation from political and religious leaders.
The initial attack occurred on March 23, 2026, when four vehicles belonging to Hatzola Northwest, a volunteer emergency medical service, were set ablaze in Golders Green, a north London neighborhood with a large Jewish population. No injuries were reported, but the vehicles were destroyed and windows in nearby homes were shattered, as reported by The Associated Press.
Possible Iranian Link Under Investigation
Detectives are investigating a claim of responsibility made by a group with alleged links to Iran. Mark Rowley, chief of London’s Metropolitan Police, stated, “We are pursuing all lines of inquiry, including an online claim of responsibility by an Islamist group who have claimed other attacks across Europe and have potential Iranian state links.” While the incidents have not been classified as terrorism, counterterror officers are leading the investigation.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the attack as “horrific,” emphasizing the importance of standing together against antisemitism. He met with Jewish community leaders at 10 Downing Street on Monday to discuss the response to the attacks.
Recent Attacks Escalate Concerns
The investigation has expanded to include several other incidents. On April 16, 2026, an Islamist group calling itself Harakat Ashab al-Yamin al-Islamiya – The Islamic Movement of the People of the Right Hand – claimed responsibility for attacks on a synagogue in Finchley and the initial ambulance arson, according to the BBC. The group posted videos on social media making the unsubstantiated claim.
On April 21, 2026, eight arrests were made in connection with a suspected plot to commit arson, Reuters reported. On Wednesday, April 16, 2026, three arrests were made following an attempted arson attack at the offices of Volant Media, a Persian language media organization in Park Royal. A 16-year-old boy and two men, aged 19 and 21, were arrested on suspicion of arson endangering life and remain in police custody.
Most recently, two Jewish individuals were stabbed in London, prompting further concern. The incident, described as “deeply concerning” by Prime Minister Starmer, is being investigated alongside the other attacks. CNN and KSL News reported on the stabbing, highlighting the rising number of antisemitic attacks in the U.K.
Scotland Yard has issued a warning to anyone being “persuaded or paid” to act on behalf of foreign organizations. The Metropolitan Police are urging vigilance and cooperation from the public as the investigation continues.
