UK Provides Additional Storm Shadow Missiles to Ukraine Amid Escalating Conflict
UK Sends Additional Storm Shadow Missiles to Ukraine
The UK has recently supplied “dozens” of Storm Shadow long-range missiles to Ukraine. This delivery occurred as Ukraine’s stockpile was declining. The information comes from sources speaking to Bloomberg.
The unannounced shipment was completed before the UK, the United States, and France allowed Ukraine to target Russia with long-range missiles. Reports indicate that these missiles arrived in Ukraine several weeks ago. However, sources did not disclose the exact date or the quantity of missiles due to operational security concerns.
The UK Ministry of Defence declined to comment on operational details but reiterated its strong support for Ukraine. The UK has provided an unspecified number of Storm Shadow missiles to Ukraine since the conflict escalated in February 2022. The last confirmed delivery of these missiles was reported in April.
Storm Shadow is an air-launched precision-guided missile with a range exceeding 250 kilometers (155 miles). The UK developed this missile in collaboration with France, where the French variant is known as SCALP.
