Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the , and sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in London, it was up 0.67%.

The best performers of the session were Croda International PLC (LON:), which rose 5.24% or 189.00 points to trade at 3,793.00 at the close. Meanwhile, NatWest Group PLC (LON:) added 3.73% (LON:) to end at 395.00 and Barclays Bank (LON:) added 3.64% (LON:) to 260.65 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Fresnillo PLC (LON:), which fell 3.43% or 24.00 points to trade at 676.00 at the close. Sainsbury’s (LON:) fell 2.33% (5.80 points) to end at 243.40; Rio Tinto Group (LON:) fell 1.94% (96.00 points) to quote 4,850.00.

1,248 stocks rose on the London Stock Exchange, which outnumbered the number of stocks closing down – 612. At the same time, 597 stocks did not rise or fall, which was basically the same.

Shares in NatWest Group PLC (LON:) rose to highs, rising 3.73% or 14.20 points to 395.00. Sainsbury’s (LON:) shares fell to one year lows, losing 2.33% or 5.80 points to 243.40. Shares in Barclays PLC (LON: ) rose to highs, rising 3.64% or 9.15 points to 260.65.

The price of the gold futures December options contract fell 2.75% (74.05 points) to $2,620.75. For the rest of the futures, the price of WTI crude oil futures contract for December delivery fell by 3.05% (2.15 points), quoted at $68.23, while the January London Brent crude oil futures contract fell by 2.72% (2.01), trading at $71.86.

GBP/USD fell by 0.40%, with an exchange rate of 1.29; at the same time, EUR/GBP was basically unchanged by 0.26%, with a quote of 0.83.

U.S. dollar index futures rose 0.51% to 105.43.
