UK stocks lower at close of trade; Investing.com UK 100 down 0.08% By Investing.com

Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , , and sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in London, it fell 0.08%.

The best performers of the day were Londonmetric (LON:), which rose 2.56% or 5.10 points to 204.00 at the close, while Entain PLC (LON:) rose 2.22% or 14.00 points to 646.00 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:) rose 2.05% or 325.00 points to 16,200.00 in late trade.

The weakest performers were Fresnillo PLC (LON:), which fell 2.34% (13.00 points) to 541.50 at the close. Whitbread PLC (LON:) fell 1.77% (52.00 points) to 2,885.00 and Intermediate Capital Group PLC (LON:) fell 1.67% (36.00 points) to 2,126.00.

1,037 stocks on the London Stock Exchange rose, outnumbering the number of stocks that closed lower – 727. At the same time, 714 stocks did not rise or fall, and were basically flat.

The December gold futures option contract price fell 0.93% (23.75 points) to $2,536.55. For other futures, the October delivery WTI crude oil futures contract price fell 2.41% (1.83 points) to $74.08, while the November London Brent crude oil futures contract price fell 1.89% (1.49) to $77.33.

GBP/USD remained unchanged at 0.28% and the exchange rate was 1.31; at the same time, EUR/GBP was basically flat at 0.11% and the exchange rate was 0.84.

The dollar index futures rose 0.30% to 101.57.
