On September 22, 2023, basic unions in Italy initiated a 24-hour general strike impacting local transport, railways, logistics, port workers, schools, and universities. The strike is organized by USB (Unione Sindacale di Base), Cub (Confederazione Unitaria dei Lavoratori), ADL Varese, and SGB (Sindacato generale di Base) in solidarity with the population of the Gaza Strip.
The strike affects public transport, schools, universities, and port workers. Notably, the air travel sector is not included. However, maritime staff, goods and logistics workers, taxis, and railway employees are participating.Railway staff will strike from 9:00 PM on September 21st too 9:00 PM on September 22nd, with motorway workers observing the same timeframe.
