According to the ⁢leaked Russian communications ‍reviewed by The Kyiv Independent, the Chinese government submitted an arms ‍purchase request to‍ Russia just over a month after Russia launched⁤ its full-scale invasion ‍of ukraine in 2022.

The request, designated ZH2022-Y53 and received on April 7, 2022,⁣ specifically sought a range of weapons ⁢and armored vehicles suitable for airborne troops.

Three weeks later, Russia’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) instructed Rosoboronexport, the state-owned enterprise responsible for all ⁣Russian arms exports, to demonstrate airdroppable Russian combat vehicles to a Chinese ‍delegation.
