Ukrainian drone strikes have killed at least five people and set fire to industrial sites and e-commerce depots across Russia, marking some of Kyiv’s largest strikes so far, according to regional officials and local reporting. The attacks targeted logistics and energy infrastructure up to 800 kilometers from the border, while Russian forces simultaneously carried out strikes on Ukrainian cities including Zaporizhzhia and Kharkiv.
Industrial Sites and Wildberries Warehouses Targeted in Russia
Kyiv’s aerial campaign has struck over a dozen depots belonging to Wildberries, Russia’s largest online marketplace, in under two weeks. According to ABC News, Ukrainian drones hit a Wildberries warehouse in the Samara region roughly 800 kilometers from the border, causing a fire but no casualties, as reported by regional Gov. Vyacheslav Fedorishchev.
Additional drone strikes caused fatalities and infrastructure damage in other Russian regions. Acting regional head Olga Abramova stated via ABC News that a strike in the Udmurt Republic killed three civilians and wounded two others, while damaging a civilian car. In the Saratov region, Gov. Roman Busargin reported that a drone strike on a residential building in Engels killed two people and damaged civil infrastructure. Engels hosts a military airbase, while neighboring Saratov houses a large oil refinery.
Further north in Bashkortostan, Gov. Radiy Khabirov said air defenses repelled a large-scale drone strike on industrial facilities in Ufa, sparking a blaze. Meanwhile, Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed that air defenses shot down 635 Ukrainian drones overnight across occupied Crimea and the Black and Azov seas, though the ministry did not disclose launch figures or successful impact counts.

Simultaneous Russian Strikes Hit Ukrainian Cities
While long-range drones struck targets inside Russia, Russian forces launched 133 drones against Ukraine overnight, with 24 hitting their targets according to the Ukrainian air force. In southern Zaporizhzhia, a Russian guided bomb struck a residential building, killing one person, local administration head Ivan Fedorov reported.
A separate attack on the outskirts of Kharkiv killed another person and ignited a fire at a postal terminal, regional administration head Oleh Syniehubov said. These urban bombardments coincided with broader military pressures across the frontlines, where President Volodymyr Zelenskiy announced that Ukrainian forces have retaken 745 square kilometers of occupied land this year in precision operations, according to Reuters.

Economic Disruption and Regional Aftermath
Reuters reported that Ukrainian drone strikes have pushed up Russian trucking costs, compounded by diesel fuel price hikes, federal highway toll increases, and driver shortages. In the Samara region, regional authorities continue to manage recovery efforts following the warehouse blazes, while emergency services extinguish fires at industrial targets in Ufa and Engels.
