Russian forces launched hundreds of drones and missiles at Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities on January 11, 2026, including missiles capable of carrying nuclear warheads, according to multiple news reports.The attacks left thousands of Kyiv residents without heat during frigid weather and resulted in civilian casualties.
At least four people died in Kyiv,and approximately 25 others sustained injuries. Thousands of apartment buildings lost heating, according to reports.
The victims included a medic who was providing aid as part of an emergency services team, the UN World health Association (WHO) stated in a tweet. Four healthcare workers were injured, and three ambulances were damaged.
Guterres Condemns Attacks
UN Secretary-General António Guterres strongly condemned the attacks in a statement released by his Spokesperson. “These attacks have resulted in civilian casualties and deprived millions of Ukrainians of essential services, including electricity, heating and water at a time of acute humanitarian need,” the statement added.
“Attacks against civilians and civilian infrastructure violate international humanitarian law. No matter where they occur, they are unacceptable, unjustifiable, and must stop immediately.”
Millions Face Cold Without Heat
