Ukraine on High Alert: Zelenskyj Sounds Alarm Over Critical Delays in Anti-Aircraft Defense
Ukrainian President Zelensky Spreads Optimism in Evening Speech
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyj has expressed optimism in his evening speech, stating that developments are on the right track.
However, he also reprimanded his Western partners, urging them to speed up the promised supplies to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses. “So far, all the promises on air defense made at the summit in Washington have not been implemented,” he warned.
Zelensky emphasized the importance of efficient air defense, particularly at the beginning of autumn, in light of systematic Russian attacks against Ukraine’s energy and heat supply.
Opposition to Freezing the Conflict
Zelensky reiterated his opposition to freezing the conflict, stating that Ukraine and Europe need long-term security, which can only be achieved through a just peace.
Situation at the Front
Zelensky did not comment in detail on the situation at the front but hailed the drone attack on an ammunition depot near the small town of Toropets in northwestern Russia.
He also reported that the fighting in the western Russian region of Kursk, where Moscow’s troops tried to fight the Ukrainian counteroffensive, is proceeding according to Kiev’s plan.
Reinforcements for Eastern Ukraine
Zelensky promised early reinforcements to the defenders of the cities of Pokrovsk, Toretsk, and Kurakhove in Ukraine’s eastern region of Donetsk, which were being harassed by Russian troops.
According to him, new brigades have now been established, but they are not yet fully armed.
