Russia lost 1,690 military personnel, 51 artillery systems, and two air defense systems over a recent 24-hour reporting period, according to figures released by the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on October 7, 2026. The Ukrainian military timed the release of these latest combat loss estimates to coincide with the 74th birthday of Russian leader Vladimir Putin, framing the cumulative toll of the conflict around the date.

Total Combat Casualties and Equipment Losses Since 2022

Ukraine’s military command stated that Russia has lost approximately 1,545,950 personnel since the launch of the full-scale invasion on February 24, 2022. The published figures indicate that total armored combat vehicle losses reached 25,498 after four additional units were destroyed during the latest reporting period. Tank losses remained unchanged at 12,396.

The updated statistics show that Russia’s total estimated losses in artillery systems rose to 50,836 following the addition of the 51 newly reported systems. Ukraine also recorded eight additional multiple launch rocket systems, bringing that category total to 2,192, alongside two more air defense systems that raised the cumulative figure to 1,690.

Ukrainian General Staff Reports Increased Drone and Vehicle Losses

Operational and tactical unmanned aerial vehicle losses increased by 1,890 to reach approximately 551,876 units. Ground-based robotic systems added 12 new losses, pushing that category total to 2,878, as reported by the Ukrainian General Staff.

Aircraft and helicopter losses remained static at 443 planes and 356 helicopters, while cruise missile losses stayed at 5,126. Naval equipment figures remained constant at 35 ships and boats alongside two submarines. Automotive and fuel tanker losses grew by 577 vehicles to reach 159,128, and specialized equipment increased by five units to a total of 4,800.

Ukrainian Forces Conduct Record Long-Range Strikes

The latest casualty data accompanies a surge in active engagements along the front lines, where Ukrainian and Russian forces clashed in 202 separate battles during the reporting period. The renewed intensity follows a month of long-range operations in September, during which Ukrainian forces recorded over 11,000 verified strikes against Russian targets located more than 20 kilometers beyond the front line, according to reporting by United24.
