Ukrainian drone manufacturer Buntar Aerospace has secured $10.4 million in a new funding round led by the United States-based security technology company Axon Enterprise, according to venture capital firm Defence Builder, which cited data from Vestbee. The investment places Buntar among the six largest disclosed funding rounds in Ukraine for the year 2026, according to Defence Builder data. The financing round also drew participation from Norwegian investment consortium Munkene AS alongside other private investors, according to reporting by the Kyiv Post.

Strategic Partnership and Technology Integration

As part of the financing agreement, Buntar and Axon are developing a strategic partnership focused on commercial cooperation and technology integration. The collaboration aims to expand access to intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities for operators on the ground. This deal represents the latest in a series of investments Axon has made in Ukrainian-designed defense technology. The US-based security firm previously led a €7.2 million seed round in Farsight Vision, a Ukrainian-Estonian battlefield artificial intelligence startup, and also backed Kyiv-based The Fourth Law, which develops AI-powered autonomy systems for counter-drone operations.

This funding will help us scale systems that give operators information as early as possible and help save lives at the most critical moments.

Production Scaling and Software Development

According to the company, the newly acquired capital will directly fund the production scaling of the Buntar-3 reconnaissance system. The electric vertical takeoff and landing drone is capable of missions lasting up to four hours and was first publicly unveiled in late May 2025. The aircraft is built for reconnaissance operations, providing extended flight time and operational flexibility without requiring traditional runways. Funds will also support the continued development of Buntar Copilot, a mission-management software platform designed to function as a combat assistant for drone operators. The Copilot software is engineered to forecast mission scenarios, reduce operator errors under high stress, calculate flight sequencing, ensure continuous aerial coverage, and provide centralized simultaneous streaming from multiple cameras, according to company statements.
