Ukrainian President Zelensky Aims for Diplomatic End to War with Russia by Next Year
Ukrainian President‘s Diplomatic Goals for Peace
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky expressed his desire to end the war with Russia next year through diplomatic means. He made this statement on November 16, shortly after hoping for a quicker resolution due to Donald Trump’s potential return as President of the United States.
Zelensky stated, “We must do everything we can to ensure this war ends next year. We must end it diplomatically.” He emphasized the importance of this goal in an interview with Ukrainian radio.
Currently, there are no significant talks between Russia and Ukraine. However, Trump’s presidency raises questions about the conflict’s future. Trump has repeatedly stated he aims to end the war quickly.
Zelensky noted, “We need to understand what Russia wants.” He highlighted the challenges Ukraine faces, stating they are fighting against a country that does not value its people and possesses significant military resources.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has indicated that he will only engage in talks with Ukraine if Kyiv cedes territories occupied by Moscow.
