“I went up and around Annapurna – passed⁢ 5500 meters – and ‌weighed 160 kilos. Not ‌quite ‍ideal,” he said.

Andersen explained that he developed tendonitis ⁤and took a combination of Ibux⁤ and Voltaren, ‍which he later learned was harmful to his kidneys. “That combination is very harmful‌ to⁢ the kidneys, and it⁣ knocked out the whole ‌system.⁤ In retrospect, I see‍ how little I knew. It was‍ brutal – and the start of a long fight.”

He described the trip as a turning point, forcing him to re-evaluate and make ⁣changes. He humorously noted the difficulty of finding hiking⁣ equipment in⁤ size XXXL in Kathmandu, recounting ‌how he ultimately wore dress pants over his passport.
