The Ulsan City Health and Environment Research Institute has achieved outstanding results in the 2024 Odor Field Proficiency Test, hosted by the National Institute of Environmental Research. This test aims to enhance the measurement and analysis capabilities for odorous substances, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the results.
The Odor Field Proficiency Test is conducted annually across approximately 100 odor measurement and analysis organizations nationwide, including provincial and municipal health and environmental research institutes, environmental corporations, and measurement agencies.
This year’s evaluation items have increased by two, covering complex odors, volatile organic compounds (toluene, xylene, styrene), and aldehydes (acetaldehyde, propionaldehyde, butylaldehyde, n-valeraldehyde). A total of eight items were assessed.
The Ulsan City Health and Environment Research Institute received a ‘satisfactory’ rating for all eight items and scored 100 points when calculating the converted score for each field’s institutional evaluation.
An official from the National Institute of Environmental Research stated, “We will continue to strengthen our analytical capabilities and improve the accuracy and reliability of our analysis results to perform work in the field of odor that is sufficiently trusted by the public.”
