Cycling enthusiasts flocked to a free, seven-hour live broadcast of Unbound Gravel 200 on Life Time’s YouTube channel. the groundbreaking coverage attracted 185,000 unique viewers across 50 countries, amassing over 332,000 views throughout the weekend. The stream began roughly four hours after the elite cyclists started the 200-mile race.
Earlier this season, The Traka 360’s live stream garnered more than 72,000 views during its 10 hours of coverage.
This year, unbound Gravel coverage included eight cameras along the course, featuring helicopter and drone footage, plus a fixed camera at the finish line. Commentary was provided by Payson McElveen,Meredith Miller,Bill elliston,Nat Ross,and Lauren Hall.
In other news, Sean Christian of Team Skyline secured victory in the opening stage of the UCI Tour de Beauce. His win earned him the leader’s jersey for the 37th edition of the race, a five-day event covering 723 kilometers.The stage concluded in Saint-Gédéon-de-Beauce after 198.3km.
Christian outpaced Hugo Scala Jr. of Project Echelon Racing and Jérôme Gauthier from Team Marni-N’side in a sprint finish. Gauthier trails Christian in the general classification due to bonus seconds.
This marks Christian’s second victory this season, following his sprint win at the Gran Premio New York City in May. Veteran Óscar Sevilla finished fifth in the stage.
Simultaneously occurring, Marlies mejías of Virginia’s Blue Ridge TWENTY28 dominated the Cuban National Championships in Havana, claiming both the time trial and road race titles for elite women.
Mejías set a new national ITT record, completing the 20km course in 26 minutes, 2 seconds, with an average speed of 46.095 mph. In the road race, she and Evelyn Diaz broke away from the peloton, with Mejías winning the final sprint after 102 kilometers.
“Winning the time trial and setting a new national record was a proud moment for me,” Mejías said.
