Introduction
Fudan University’s Master of Journalism and Communication Financial News program is one of the first financial news programs in China. It emphasizes the training of two core capabilities: journalism and communication + financial analysis. The curriculum gives equal weight to journalism and communication and finance, and strives to achieve the cross-integration of the two disciplines. Cultivation Characteristics
This project is based on Fundanch University, a comprehensive university with both liberal arts and sciences. It relies on the School of Journalism with a long history, profound academic accumulation and first-class teaching equipment. It closely responds to the country and society’s requirements for the ability of financial news talents, makes full use of the resources and conditions of Shanghai International Financial Center, and cooperates with leading domestic and foreign media organizations, well-known financial institutions and social organizations to connect the classroom with the industry. It adopts a dual mentor system of academia and industry to jointly cultivate high-end compound talents in journalism communication + financial analysis.
Interdisciplinary Integration
The program’s lecturers come from multiple disciplines at Fudan University, including the School of Journalism, School of Economics, School of Management, School of Computer Science, and School of Law. The program also actively collaborates with other universities in Shanghai to form an interdisciplinary cross-training mechanism, dedicated to improving the unity of theoretical knowledge and practical skills among students in this major.
Joint Training between Industry, Academia and Research
The industry mentors of this project are divided into media and economics. The media mentors are mainly from central media and leading financial media; the economic mentors are from leading companies in consulting, finance, Internet and other industries. The industry mentors are deeply involved in the entire process of course teaching, student training, internship and employment, striving to achieve the integration of “industry, academia and research”.
Learning and Training
The program lasts two years. The curriculum is designed in accordance with the concept of integrated training of “journalism and finance, practice and theory, academia and industry, domestic and international”, and covers modules such as journalism and communication, finance and business, law and economics. A master’s degree in journalism and communication will be awarded.
Admissions Procedure
The Master’s Program in Financial Journalism currently recruits students from all over the country through direct admission through recommendation and the National Graduate Examination. The recommended admission selects outstanding students who are interested in financial journalism, have potential, and are creative from fourth-year undergraduates in various liberal arts and science majors.
