Mysterious Disease in Aswan Governorate, Egypt: Separating Fact from Rumor

Reports of a mysterious disease ‍spreading among residents in Aswan Governorate, Egypt, near the border with Sudan, have caused panic among⁢ citizens. However, renowned Egyptian doctor Gamal⁤ Shaaban has revealed the truth about the situation.

The former dean of the National Heart Institute confirmed that the circulating ‌information was mere rumor and demanded ‌that they not be promoted. He emphasized the importance‍ of verifying information before sharing it to avoid causing unnecessary panic.

Dr. Shaaban took to his official Facebook account to address the situation, stating, “Please do not spread rumors about Aswan, and call‌ for reassurance of the preventive ​medicine delegation⁤ there. Don’t ⁤be sad.” He‌ also explained that while⁣ there is an intestinal disease present, the test results have not been announced yet.

Symptoms and Response

Egyptian authorities have detected ⁢cases of fatigue and ‍gastrointestinal disorders, as well as nausea and vomiting,‌ in the Abu al-Rish and Darau regions of Aswan. Medical teams have been dispatched to hospitals and water⁤ centers to ⁣investigate the root cause and test samples.

Investigation and Preliminary Findings

Deputy Prime Minister for Human Development and Egyptian Health ⁤Minister​ Khaled Abdel Ghaffar announced that hospitalized patients have been interviewed, ​and their medical care has ⁣been ⁣followed up. Preliminary tests of water stations and houses in Aswan have shown no changes related to the presence of bacteria or⁣ microbiological changes in water stations.

Minister Abdel Ghaffar also reported that the total number of cases requiring hospitalization and treatment has improved, decreasing from 63 to 25 cases. A meeting is scheduled to increase awareness among doctors in primary care units attached to the ‌health authorities on dealing with cases ‍of intestinal infections.
