7-Year-Old Boy’s Mysterious Odor Leads to Shocking Discovery

A 7-year-old boy’s persistent bad smell has left his parents baffled for two years, until a surprising revelation.

Ming Ming, a young boy from Henan, has been experiencing a pungent odor for an extended period. Despite numerous health checkups, the cause remained unknown. However, during a recent examination, doctors made a startling discovery in his nasal cavity – a rusty screw.

According to Ming Ming’s parents, their son frequently complained about the unpleasant smell, but they were unable to identify the source. The smell worsened over time, prompting them to seek medical attention. An X-ray revealed a metallic object at the base of the right nasal cavity, surrounded by pus.

During the surgical procedure, doctors found the foreign object’s surface covered with a large amount of black substance. They carefully removed the object using three instruments, as they were concerned it might slide down the back of the nasal cavity.

After cleaning the object, doctors were shocked to discover that it was a metal screw. Ming Ming’s parents were equally astonished, stating that the screw must have been lodged in their son’s nasal cavity for at least two years. The origin of the screw remains unknown.

Doctors emphasized that foreign bodies in children’s nasal passages are a common emergency in pediatric otolaryngology departments. They advise parents to seek medical attention if their child exhibits symptoms such as abnormal nose picking, thick runny nose, or a strange smell on one side of the nasal cavity.
