Uncovering the Truth: Expert Investigation into Canopy Collapse Underway, Accountability on the Horizon
The mayor of Novi Sad, Milan Đurić, addressed the media in front of the Vojvodina Clinical Center, where he spoke about the injured, but also about the fact that an investigation has been carried out and expert reports are pending to determine who is responsible. about the accident that happened in front of the Novi Sad Railway Station.
“For now, I can say that 14 people have been killed, three people have been injured and they are in the KCV. Their lives are in danger and we hope they will survive. The investigation took place today around midday , after that the expert said an examination started by the specialist authorities, so we will see what kind of finding and opinion they will give us, so that we all know what happened What we can certainly expect is that it is the responsibility of those who should have do their job and they didn’t do it right so that this tragedy wouldn’t have happened,” said Đurić.
He pointed out that it is necessary to wait for the findings and opinions of the experts so that the authorities who should be held accountable and those who participated in the reconstruction of the Railway Station in Novi Sad know exactly what happened.
“At the moment it is too hasty to say anything, we should let the profession do its job. I expect that they will do the job quickly because this is an unprecedented tragedy that happened in all of Serbia , not only in Novi Sad. He did not enter the building, only what we know is that the canopy collapsed to be liable,” he added.
He pointed out that experts should examine the entire canopy, as well as the weight, in order to determine what caused the collapse.
The mayor of Novi Sad said that the city will provide all the help and support to the families of the victims, as well as to the people whose lives doctors are currently fighting for. He pointed out that the ministry said the canopy had not been rebuilt.
