Uncovering the Truth: Special Committee Launched to Verify Casualty List in Ongoing Movement
Ministry of Health to Verify List of Casualties in Student Uprising
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has initiated a verification process to confirm the list of those killed and injured during the recent student uprising.
According to a letter signed by Umme Habiba, Deputy Secretary of the Health Care Department, the decision was made to ensure the accuracy of the list, which was initially prepared by the MIS Health Department based on information received from various healthcare institutions.
To facilitate the verification process, an eight-member committee has been appointed, comprising the District Commissioner as President, the State Civil Surgeon as Member Secretary, the Superintendent of Police, Upazila Officer Nirbahi, and two coordinators of the student anti-discrimination movement.
The committee’s primary objective is to scrutinize the list of casualties in each area, rectify any inconsistencies or incomplete information, and recommend the deletion of incorrect information. Additionally, they will identify any deceased individuals not included in the list and correct information on their behalf, if available.
The committee has been instructed to submit the verified list to the Health Care Department by October 14, ensuring that it only includes the names of those who were killed or injured in support of the mass rebellion.
The Ministry has emphasized the importance of accuracy and completeness in the verification process, directing the proposed district-level scrutiny committee to provide necessary instructions to the field administration through the cabinet department.
