Oklahoma City will once again be a central hub for USA Gymnastics, hosting the 2026 Men’s and Women’s Development Program National Championships from May 6 to May 10 at the Oklahoma City Convention Center. This marks a return for the city, which previously hosted the event in 2023.

The announcement, made by USA Gymnastics on May 20, 2025, solidifies Oklahoma City’s position as a key destination for the sport. Adam Wisniewski, Vice President of Sports Development at Visit Oklahoma City, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “Given our region’s rich history within the sport, Oklahoma City prides itself on hosting premier events in partnership with USA Gymnastics. We were honored to host Development Program National Championships in 2023 and appreciate being trusted to host it again in 2026. OKC looks forward to welcoming the country to our destination and continuing to elevate gymnastics for the next generation.”

Beyond the Development Program National Championships, the 2026 calendar includes separate Eastern and Western Championships for both men and women. The Women’s Eastern and Western Championships will be held in Savannah, Georgia, and Boise, Idaho, respectively, from April 30 to May 3. The Men’s Eastern Championships are slated for Palm Beach, Florida, and the Western Championships for Galveston, Texas, both running from April 24 to April 26.

The broader gymnastics landscape is also seeing movement. The American Cup is set to return in 2026, but with a new format – a mixed team international competition. This event is scheduled for March 3-9, 2026. The Winter Cup, traditionally held in Kentucky, may see a venue change, with discussions around breaking out of its current convention hall location. Broadcast coverage of the Winter Cup is also expected to return to NBC for the first time since 2023.

The 2026 USAG Streaming Schedule will feature coverage of competitions, camps, and trainings available on both the USA Gymnastics YouTube Channel and FlipNow.TV. This expanded streaming presence aims to increase accessibility for fans and broaden the reach of the sport.

Looking ahead, the calendar indicates that US Classic will be held in both 2026 and 2027, potentially signaling a longer-term commitment to that location for the event. However, it is not currently scheduled for 2025 or 2028.

The return of the American Cup as a mixed team event represents a significant shift in the competition’s format. This change could attract a wider range of international talent and create a more dynamic competitive environment. The inclusion of mixed teams aligns with a growing trend in many sports to promote gender equality and showcase combined athletic prowess.

The decision to bring the Development Program National Championships back to Oklahoma City underscores the city’s proven ability to host large-scale gymnastics events. The Oklahoma City Convention Center provides a suitable venue, and the local community has demonstrated strong support for the sport. The city’s previous experience hosting the championships in 2023 likely played a key role in USA Gymnastics’ decision.

The scheduling of these events across multiple states – Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Oklahoma, and Texas – demonstrates USA Gymnastics’ commitment to bringing the sport to different regions of the country. This decentralized approach can help to foster grassroots participation and expand the sport’s fan base.

The potential return of Winter Cup coverage to NBC is a positive development for the sport’s visibility. NBC’s broad reach can expose gymnastics to a wider audience, potentially attracting new fans and sponsors. The increased streaming options on YouTube and FlipNow.TV further enhance accessibility for those who prefer to watch events online.

While Indianapolis hosted the NBA All-Star Weekend and is actively seeking future large-scale events, the city’s ability to secure gymnastics championships remains an ongoing pursuit. The success of events like the All-Star Game is intended to highlight Indianapolis’s capabilities as a host city and attract further investment and events.
