Unemployment Rate Rises to 4.7% – NRK News
Norwegian Unemployment Rises Slightly in Q3 2025, with Youth Facing Challenges
National unemployment Figures
The Norwegian labor force survey (AKU) indicates a national unemployment rate of 4.7 percent in the third quarter of 2025, a rise from 4.0 percent recorded in the first quarter of the same year. Seasonally adjusted data from the survey reveals 142,000 individuals were unemployed during this period.
Disparities Among Younger Workers
While the overall increase in both employment and unemployment figures between the second and third quarters was consistent, a concerning trend emerged among younger workers, particularly men. This demographic experienced a rise in unemployment alongside a slight decrease in employment levels. This suggests potential challenges for young people entering or remaining in the workforce.
According to section head Tonje Køber, the diverging trends within the youngest age groups warrant further investigation to understand the underlying factors contributing to this shift.
