UNI Swimming and Diving at the Hawkeye Invitational

UNI swimming and diving had a successful outing at the Hawkeye Invitational, held at the Campus Wellness-Recreation Center in Iowa City. During the event, three school records and one Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) record were broken.

Highlights from the Meet:

  • 500-Yard Freestyle: Olivia Chambers set a new Para American record in the S13 classification, finishing with a time of 4:57.04. Hallory Domnick also competed, finishing 23rd with a time of 5:08.47.

  • 50-Yard Freestyle: Faith Larsen broke her own school record, clocking in at 22.48 seconds. Other finishes included Abby Lear in 12th (23.27), Morgan Meyer in 17th (23.32), and Waren Graeve in 25th (23.46).

  • 200-Yard Freestyle Relay: The team of Abby Lear, Faith Larsen, Morgan Meyer, and Waren Graeve set a new school and MVC record with a time of 1:30.71, earning a third-place finish.

  • 200-Yard Medley Relay: On the second day, the team of Elyse Brayton, Jenna Breitbach, Hannah Nedder, and Larsen placed 10th with a time of 1:41.76.

  • 200-Yard Freestyle: Meyer set a new UNI record while finishing 7th in the finals with a time of 1:49.28.

  • 100-Yard Breaststroke: Aird, Ema Lavigne, and Breitbach qualified for finals, finishing 26th (1:04.62), 29th (1:05.00), and 31st (1:05.57) respectively.

  • 100-Yard Freestyle: Larsen secured third place with a time of 49.27 seconds. Meyer and Lear followed in 12th (50.66) and 20th (50.93).

  • 400-Yard Freestyle Relay: The team of Meyer, Larsen, Graeve, and Lear finished 4th with a time of 3:21.57.

In diving events, Trista Thompson led UNI in the one-meter springboard prelims, finishing 25th with 236.35 points. Erica Peters finished 22nd in the three-meter diving finals with a score of 248.70.

Upcoming Event:

UNI swimming and diving will host the Panther Diving Invite on December 7 at 1 p.m. CT at the Glen F. Henry Pool in Cedar Falls.
