Universal Studios Japan Expands SUPER NINTENDO WORLD

Osaka, Japan – Universal Studios Japan (USJ LLC) is expanding SUPER NINTENDO WORLD, which opened in March 2021. The new “Donkey Kong Country” area will open on December 11, 2024. This expansion increases the park’s size by 70% and adds innovative experiences for guests.

The highlight of the new area is The Golden Temple, a structure inspired by the Donkey Kong games. Inside, guests will feel immersed in a jungle adventure. A mural within The Golden Temple adds excitement to the experience before guests board the rides.

New Ride Attraction: Mine Cart Madness

A standout feature of the expansion is the ride Mine Cart Madness. This coaster sets itself apart with an innovative design. Guests will join Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong in a thrilling pursuit to protect the Golden Banana from the Tiki Tak Tribe. The ride includes unexpected movements, such as getting propelled from a barrel and jumping over gaps while speeding along a track.

Daniel Greer, Producer at Universal Creative, emphasizes the vibrant jungle landscapes guests will explore. The ride is developed in collaboration with Nintendo’s creative team, including Shigeru Miyamoto.
