Unleash the Magic of Mid-Autumn: A Forest Fiesta with Yunnan Pu’er’s Tiny Creatures
Celebrating Mid-Autumn Festival in Yunnan’s Pu’er Sun River Forest Park
In the golden autumn season, the weather in Pu’er Sun River Forest Park in Yunnan is clear and the scenery is pleasant. Tourists from all over the world take advantage of their free time during the holidays to come to the park with their friends and family to enjoy the comfort and joy of the festival in the embrace of nature.
Walking into Pu’er Sun River Forest Park, the magical greetings – “Ai Ha, Sun River” echo throughout the scenic area. “Ai Ha, Sun River” is the innovative greeting of Pu’er Sun River. “Ai Ha” comes from the language of the Wa people and can be translated as “Welcome to Sun River”. The enthusiastic staff welcomes tourists from all over the world with a unique greeting.

Pu’er Sun River Forest Park has a forest coverage rate of 97.45%, preserving the largest and most complete South Asian tropical monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forest in China. The negative oxygen ions in the air are maintained at 20,000 to 30,000 all year round, making it a veritable “forest oxygen bar”. Here, visitors can get close to nature and feel the charm of biodiversity.

Taking a sightseeing bus deep into the park, we came to a path surrounded by tropical rainforests. “This path is called the ‘Three Treasures’ path, where we plant our dendrobium, coffee and tea. On both sides of the road, we can also see rare plants such as golden dog fern, Yunnan wolfberry and cliff ginger.” Park staff Ru Zhihong introduced, “We have preserved China’s largest and most complete South Asian tropical monsoon evergreen broad-leaved forest, Simiao pine forest and a small number of precious seasonal rainforests. There are many national first- and second-level key protected plants here.”

Passing through the “Three Treasures” trail, the rhino retreat, the macaque paradise, the fish tracing stream, the Alsophila trail, the monkey peninsula, the Jiaoguatang wetland, the bear haunts, the traveling red pandas, the bird paradise and other attractions made tourists linger. Everyone took photos and checked in, interacting with the small animals up close.

In the scenic area, children can be seen everywhere, led by their parents. “Today, I saw many animals, including rhinos, sika deer, raccoons, etc., all of which are very cute. I also saw many rare plants that are not in textbooks. I am very happy.” said Kong Ruishi, a young tourist.

During the Mid-Autumn Festival this year, Pu’er Sun River Forest Park launched special activities such as exploring the Sun River and strolling in the rainforest, Mid-Autumn Festival vacation for red pandas, fan meeting with internet celebrity gibbon Tintin, preparing Mid-Autumn Festival dinner for the little animals, gibbon Yuanyuan’s birthday party, picking fresh fruits and making delicious food, etc. It also provides tourists with exclusive electric car pick-up service in the scenic area, which enriches the cultural and tourism products while enhancing the tourists’ travel experience.

“We use green and healthy ingredients such as fruits and sweet potatoes to make mooncakes specially for the small animals. We and tourists give the mooncakes to the small animals so that the ‘furry children’ can also feel the festive atmosphere.” said Lou Zihan, a park staff member.

It is reported that during the Mid-Autumn Festival, the number of visitors to Pu’er Sun River Forest Park increased by 30% compared to usual. In the embrace of the forest, tourists enjoyed autumn flowers and trees, made friends with cute little animals, and spent a special Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.
