Lockheed Martin Unveils Ultra-Long-Range Cruise Missile
Lockheed Martin has revealed the latest version of the AGM-158 JASSM cruise missile, called JASSM XR (eXtreme Range). The JASSM XR is capable of achieving a range of over 2,000km, double the combat range of previous versions.
The missile is designed to maintain stealth and precision strike capabilities while still providing superior range over the current JASSM-ER version. The JASSM XR retains the same warhead weighing around 450kg but has some structural changes, including a longer length to carry more fuel, lighter alloys, improved aerodynamics, redesigned structures, modified rudders, or a more efficient propulsion system.
Despite many improvements, the JASSM XR still maintains its stealthy characteristics and accuracy. The extended range allows the JASSM XR to be deployed to attack targets further away while still remaining out of reach of enemy air defense systems.
Indian Air Force to Receive Tejas Mk 1A Fighter Jets Next Month
The Indian Air Force (IAF) will receive the Tejas Mk 1A Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) next month. The delivery marks a major step in strengthening the IAF’s fighter fleet.
The Mk 1A variant is equipped with an AESA Uttam active electronically scanned array radar, capable of tracking multiple targets at the same time, with a scanning range of more than 200km. Tejas Mk 1A features modern features and improved performance, including air-to-air refueling, beyond visual range (BVR) missile attacks, electronic warfare (EW), and enemy jamming.
The aircraft is currently undergoing final testing after completing software modifications. The first delivery will consist of aircraft equipped with B-type engines, which have been previously used or purchased under previous agreements with General Electric for the Tejas family.
Russia Integrates Karakurt Reconnaissance UAV into Legionnaire Combat Vehicle
The Kalashnikov Concern has announced the integration of the Karakurt unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) into the third-generation Legionnaire combat vehicle. The unmanned platform is currently undergoing testing in Ukraine.
Karakurt is a mini reconnaissance UAV designed by Russia to perform aerial surveillance missions. The tactical and technical characteristics of the Karakurt UAV significantly enhance situational awareness on the battlefield, allowing for quick decision-making in combat situations.
The integration of this drone will facilitate the military’s reconnaissance operations and provide additional protection in combat. Karakurt also has flexible launch capabilities and is compatible with existing communication systems.
