2024 Vietnam Student Sports Festival in Russia: A Celebration of Unity and Sportsmanship

The 2024 Vietnam Student Sports Festival in Russia officially kicked off on September 15 in Moscow, bringing together 634 athletes from 18 delegations.

The festival is organized by the Vietnamese Student Association in Russia, under the direction of the Party Committee of the Vietnamese Embassy, with the support of the Vietnamese Association in Russia and various sponsors.

The event marks the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Vietnamese Association in Russia and serves as a platform for students to exercise, connect with each other through sports, and strengthen solidarity.

A Grand Opening Ceremony

The festival officially opened on September 15 in a jubilant and exciting atmosphere, with nearly 1,500 students, young people, and guests in attendance.

The opening ceremony featured a performance by the Vietnam Student Association Art Troupe, followed by an impressive parade with 19 parade groups, including the flag group and 18 groups representing 18 Youth Union and Association organizations across Russia.

Empowering Students through Sports

Ms. Ngo Thi Thu Hoai, representative of the Party Committee of the Vietnamese Embassy in Russia, emphasized the significance of the festival in promoting solidarity, exercise, and meaningful activities among Vietnamese students studying abroad.

Mr. Bui Trung Linh, Vice President of the Vietnamese Student Association in Russia and Head of the Organizing Committee, shared that the goal of the festival is to create a healthy and exciting playground for students to exercise, improve their health, and develop the sports movement in the Vietnamese student community in Russia.

A Showcase of Sportsmanship

The festival features four events: tug of war, athletics, football, and chess. On September 15, 55 matches took place, including 11 football matches and 44 chess games. The winning teams will advance to the semi-finals and finals on September 22.

Chairman of the Vietnamese Association in Russia, Do Xuan Hoang, affirmed that the movements of Vietnamese students and youth in Russia are increasingly developing and diversifying, with the Sports Festival being a prime example of this growth.

A Symbol of Unity and Aspiration

The festival is not only a sporting event but also a symbol of solidarity and aspiration of the young generation of Vietnam in Russia. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Nguyen, representative of SOSTRA Company, expressed his joy in seeing young students prioritize health training and believes that health will be an important premise for their future success.
