Magewell Expands Product Line with USB Capture HDMI 4K Pro

Magewell has introduced a new model to its established product line, the USB Capture HDMI 4K Pro, which captures video sources with up to 4K resolution at 60 fps. The device will be showcased at IBC2024 in Amsterdam, Netherlands, from September 13th to 16th, 2024.

Key Features of the USB Capture HDMI 4K Pro

The USB Capture HDMI 4K Pro enables computers, including laptops, to capture AV signals via a USB interface, without requiring an additional power supply. It leverages the 20Gbps USB transfer performance on compatible host systems to capture 4K video at higher frame rates and resolutions.

When paired with a host PC equipped with a 20Gbps USB 3.2 Gen2 x 2 interface, the USB Capture HDMI 4K Pro can capture HDMI inputs up to 4096×2160 (including 3840×2160 Ultra HD), 60fps, and 4:4:4 chroma. The device is also compatible with legacy USB 3.2, USB 3.1, and USB 3.0 interfaces and can capture smaller sized video signals.

Compatibility and Software Support

The USB Capture HDMI 4K Pro is compatible with Windows, Mac, Linux, and Chrome OS and features plug-and-play operation with driver-free setup and automatic input signal format detection. In addition to extensive software compatibility via the UVC specification, an SDK is available for third-party developers to take advantage of new features such as the ability to capture 10-bit HDR (High Dynamic Range) signals in their software.

Customization and Control

For users who want to manually tweak the settings of the USB Capture HDMI 4K Pro, Magewell’s USB Capture Utility software allows users to configure capture parameters, upgrade the device’s firmware, view and check detailed status information, etc. The latest version of the utility also supports older models of the USB Capture Family and adds the ability to turn the audio capabilities of the device on/off.
