Unlock Seamless ESG Reporting: GRI Revolutionizes Sustainability Disclosure with GRI-ESRS Linkage Service

Unlock Seamless ESG Reporting: GRI Revolutionizes Sustainability Disclosure with GRI-ESRS Linkage Service

September 19, 2024 Catherine Williams - Chief Editor Tech

Streamlining Sustainability Reporting:⁤ GRI Introduces GRI-ESRS Linkage Service

The Global Reporting ‌Initiative (GRI) has launched a new GRI-ESRS linkage service, ‌designed to help ‌companies align‍ their⁣ sustainability reporting ‌with GRI standards and⁤ the European Sustainability Reporting Standard (ESRS). This innovative service aims to facilitate⁣ compliance with the European Union’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), ⁤which expands sustainability reporting ‌requirements for companies across various industries.

The GRI Standards are a widely accepted framework for ESG reporting, enabling companies to communicate their environmental, social, and governance impacts⁢ clearly and⁢ consistently. ‍With⁢ the CSRD set‍ to take ⁢effect⁣ in 2024, between 12,000 and 50,000 companies will be required to report detailed information on their environmental, social, and human rights impacts. As ⁣a result, it is increasingly important for companies to align their reporting practices with multiple⁢ frameworks, particularly GRI and ESRS.

The GRI-ESRS Alignment Service ⁤builds on the ⁢interoperability achieved between GRI and ⁤the European Financial ⁣Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG) ⁣between their respective standards. This service provides detailed feedback on a company’s GRI Content Index, highlights GRI-ESRS alignments, and offers suggestions ⁢for improving disclosure. Additionally, it identifies areas⁢ where the GRI standards and ESRS requirements are inconsistent, allowing‌ companies to better prepare their sustainability statements.

By utilizing this service, companies ‌can⁤ avoid the ⁤burden of double reporting ⁣and meet ‌the more stringent requirements of the CSRD. This‍ is particularly beneficial for companies already using ⁢the⁤ GRI standards, as it ⁢simplifies the ‌process of adapting‍ to the new EU ⁤regulations that are critical to demonstrating transparency ‌and accountability in⁢ ESG ‍performance.

For more‌ information on the GRI-ESRS⁢ Alignment Service, please visit the ⁤GRI website.
