Building a Culture of Peace through Tourism

It is an opportunity for tourism, through which a culture of peace is built.

The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Tourism, Fontur, and Colombia Productiva will hold the Registration “Best Suppliers in Peace Destinations” and the “Colombia Peace Destinations” Seal in Popayán on September 6, 2024. The seal’s symbol is a unique flower called “Nascent Peace” found in the Colombian Andes.

The event will take place at the Cauca Chamber of Commerce Business Auditorium between 8:30 am and 3:00 pm. The Vice Administration of Tourism team will accompany participants to subscribe to the offer. The Best Suppliers will provide expert group advice and business strengthening to businesses, such as MSMEs, integrated into the wider chain of the tourism sector.

The purpose of the seal is to help build a culture of peace, boost regional economies, promote local consumption as a responsible and sustainable practice in tourism, and dignify Colombia’s historical memory.

Who can benefit from the seal?

This seal is given by Mincomercio to actors who build peace:

  • Population who are victims of the armed conflict, signatories of the peace agreement, disaffected and disarmed, population in the process of replacing crops for illegal use, and other groups that contribute to peace building that produce, transform, market goods or provide related services with the tourism value chain in the territories of peace.
  • Tourism service providers who purchase services or goods provided, manufactured, transformed or marketed by the population suffering armed conflict, signatories to the peace agreement, disengaged and demobilized from arms, population in the process of crop substitution.
