Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi Reiterates Commitment to Protecting Foreign Investment

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi emphasized his country’s dedication to safeguarding foreign investment during a joint press conference with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Cairo.

President el-Sisi highlighted the significance of Germany as a key partner, citing numerous collaborative projects in the energy, transportation, and other sectors. He noted that these projects have had a profound impact on Egypt’s infrastructure development.

The Egyptian President extended an invitation to German companies to invest in Egypt, assuring them of the safety and security of their investments. He stated, “We welcome German companies to cooperate and invest in Egypt, and we assure them that it is essential to ensure that your investments are very safe and secure.”

President el-Sisi’s statement comes after the Egyptian Cabinet Media Center refuted reports of German company Siemens’ withdrawal from operating Egypt’s two largest power plants due to delayed financial payments. The government reaffirmed its commitment to settling Siemens’ financial dues on a fixed date.
