Regional Forum on Education in Hauts-Bassins: A Step Towards Improvement
The ENEP amphitheater in Bobo-Dioulasso recently hosted a regional forum on pre-school, primary, and non-formal education in the Hauts-Bassins region, which took place from September 6 to 7, 2024. This event brought together stakeholders to discuss the challenges facing education in the region and explore ways to improve academic results.
Challenges in Education
Despite efforts by education stakeholders, academic results in Hauts-Bassins remain below expectations. The region recorded an acceptance rate of 79.77% for the CEP, 44.52% for the BEPC, and 52.61% for the Baccalaureate. These statistics highlight the need for improvement in the education sector.
Forum Objectives
The regional forum aimed to bring together actors from different decentralized structures responsible for education to examine the difficulties facing the sector. According to Fréderic Armand D’Almeida, Regional Director of Post-Primary and Secondary Education in Hauts-Bassins, the forum provided an opportunity for stakeholders to commit to improving education in the region.
Innovative Solutions
The forum was held under the patronage of Ministers Boubakar Savadogo and Jacques Sosthène Dingara. Minister Dingara emphasized the importance of finding innovative solutions to improve school examination results in the region. The theme of the forum, “The commitment of the Hauts-Bassins educational community to the structural improvement of school exam results in the region,” reflected this objective.

Minister Dingara urged participants to reflect on how to improve access to education, enhance its quality, and strengthen management. The forum provided a platform for stakeholders to share ideas and work together to achieve these goals.

The forum was well-received by all participants, including the godmother of the forum, Aoua Victorine Millogo/Minoungou, and the PDS representative of Bobo commune.
