Unlocking Education Opportunities: Sprix Partners with Philippine Department of Education in Groundbreaking MOU
Sprix signs MOU with the Philippine Department of Education
SPRIX Co., Ltd. (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, CEO Hiroyuki Tsuneishi) has signed an MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Department of Education of the Republic of the Philippines.
The purpose of this MOU is to “improve the quality of education throughout the Philippines and provide equal opportunities and learning opportunities to all Filipino students” by providing educational content such as “TOFAS”, which Splix is widely deploying around the world. To embody the Philippine Department of Education’s desire to provide opportunities.
After signing the MOU, SPRIX and the Philippine Department of Education will proceed to concrete discussions regarding the cooperative structure.
1. Background and purpose of MOU conclusion
Since its launch in March 2021, the international basic academic ability test TOFAS has steadily expanded in countries around the world, and as of the end of June 2024, the number of test takers in 51 countries exceeded 7.5 million. In response to the results of TOFAS, the Philippine Department of Education, which was concerned about children’s basic academic skills, introduced the international test of fundamental academic skills (TOFAS) to all public schools in the Philippines. I decided to do it.
The introduction of TOFAS made it possible to easily understand the academic ability characteristics of children in their own country and compare them with those of other countries, and the visualization of each individual’s academic ability leads to the establishment of “basic academic ability.” We strongly recognized its usefulness. The Philippine Department of Education has concluded an MOU with SPRIX in order to proceed with more specific discussions toward establishing “basic academic skills.”
2. Regarding the memorandum of understanding
On October 30, 2024, a signing ceremony was held at the hall of the Philippine Department of Education between Hiroyuki Tsuneishi, CEO of SPRIX Co., Ltd., and Sonny Angara, Minister of Education of the Philippine government.
3. Comments at the ceremony
Philippine Government Minister of Education Sonny Angara
It is very important to strengthen students’ basic academic skills. TOFAS is an important and useful tool for understanding skills, especially in mathematics, and identifying areas where growth is needed. By using this tool for students across the country, we will help them engage in learning with confidence. We have already received high praise from local education directors, and we are aiming for further expansion.
SPRIX Co., Ltd. Representative Director Hiroyuki Tsuneishi
We are very honored to have entered into an MOU with the Department of Education of the Republic of the Philippines, including the implementation of TOFAS, and we appreciate the high evaluation of SPRIX’s educational content.
By delivering SPRIX’s educational services to the Republic of the Philippines, we will be able to provide a new stage in life for children in the Philippines, and we would be happy if this MOU could contribute to deepening the relationship between the two countries in the medium to long term.
