Unlocking Innovation: Daejeon Emerges as a Global Hub for Science and Technology Exchange
World Economic and Science Cities Alliance Founding Ceremony
Global Science, Technology, and Urban Innovation Unite
Daejeon City is set to host the founding ceremony of the World Economic and Science Cities Alliance, a global initiative for science, technology, and urban innovation. The event will take place on the 3rd and 4th at the Daejeon Convention Center.
Five overseas cities, including Montgomery County, USA, Dortmund, Germany, Malaga, Spain, and Seattle, USA, will participate as founding members. Hsinchu, Taiwan, and Quebec, Canada, will also join as special invited cities.
World Innovation City Forum and Founding Declaration Ceremony
On the first day of the event, the founding declaration ceremony and the World Innovation City Forum will be held. Keynote speeches will be delivered by KAIST President Lee Kwang-hyung and Research Director Mikel Landavaso Alvarez of the European Union Joint Research Center. A discussion on the role of city alliances will follow.
Global Tech Biz Day
After the founding ceremony, the Global Tech Biz Day will be held. This event is jointly hosted by five domestic academia-industry-research institutes, including the Daejeon Science and Industry Promotion Agency, KAIST Technology Value Creation Center, Korea Patent Strategy Development Institute, Chungnam National University, and Woosong University. The aim is to form a foundation for technology exchange with overseas cities.
Organizational Operation Plans
On the 4th, city representatives will gather to discuss organizational operation plans, ensuring tangible results as an international organization.
