Unlocking Mindful Futures: Washington Youth Foundation Reveals Life-Changing Secrets to Mastering Youth Mental Health
Washington Youth Foundation Launches After-School Classes and Mentoring Programs
The Washington Youth Foundation, led by Chairman Rev. Kim Beom-soo, has initiated full-scale after-school classes and mentoring programs for youth in September. The after-school classes focus on English and math, while the mentoring program is held twice a month for groups and individuals.
Group Mentoring Session with Dr. Esther Noh
This September, the group mentoring session was particularly meaningful as it featured Dr. Esther Noh, a Population Epidemiology expert, who discussed the topic “Secrets to Maintaining Youth Mental Health” at the Rockville Library in Maryland.
Dr. Noh highlighted that the mental changes experienced during adolescence are distinct from those in adulthood and can sometimes be more severe. She explained that factors such as stress, anxiety, and discrimination can manifest as physical reactions as well as mental, leading to signs like insomnia, isolation, decreased appetite, or apathetic behavior. In severe cases, this can result in a loss of motivation for studies, interpersonal relationships, and even life.
Chairman Kim Beom-su stated, “Teenagers may feel a lot of pressure about their studies as they start a new semester, but I think this mentoring will be a beneficial opportunity for them to check and manage their mental health.”
Upcoming Events and Registration
The October group mentoring session is scheduled to visit an apple orchard on Saturday, the 19th. The Washington Youth Foundation will provide English and math tutoring classes on weekdays and Saturdays during the fall semester.
