Guangxi’s Strategic Role in China’s Economic Development
Guangxi is one of the localities that plays an important role in China’s economic development strategy. In recent years, Guangxi has been accelerating the implementation of its strategy to become a center and gateway connecting China with 10 ASEAN countries, opening up comprehensively with the goals of ”Southward (to ASEAN countries in the South), Northward (connecting with northern localities), Dong Nhap (integrating with Guangdong, Hong Kong, Macau), and Xi Hop (cooperating with southwestern localities of China).
Guangxi’s Economic Growth and Development
With a permanent population of over 50 million people and a GDP of over 377 billion USD in 2023, the Guangxi government set a target of local GDP growth of about 5% in 2024, import and export growth of over 7%… which is an important growth pole of China.
Accelerating Connections with ASEAN Countries
Guangxi continues to introduce policies to accelerate connections with ASEAN countries through the construction of a new high-level land and sea route, promoting the construction of rail, road, port, border gate, airport, electricity, information, customs clearance… transport links with ASEAN countries. In addition, Guangxi also accelerates the construction of the China-ASEAN Monetary Gateway, the Digital Silk Road, and the News Port towards Southeast Asia…

To gradually realize this overall development strategy, on September 6, in Nanning City, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Guangxi Daily Newspaper under Guangxi Daily Media Group coordinated with Guangxi Radio and Television Station to hold the launching ceremony of Guangxi International Media Center to further promote cooperation with ASEAN countries in the field of journalism and media.

The launching ceremony of the Guangxi International Media Center was also attended by the Consul Generals of ASEAN countries in Nanning along with many agencies, media and press groups of China and the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
Building a More Effective International Information System
Speaking at the launching ceremony, Ms. Chen Yijun, Standing Committee of the Regional Party Committee and Head of the Propaganda Department of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Party Committee, said that in order to build a more effective international information system, Guangxi thoroughly implements the important consensus reached between Chinese President Xi Jinping and ASEAN leaders on cooperation at the local level. The establishment of the Guangxi International Media Center also aims to maximize the advantages of connecting mountains and rivers, close culture and people between Guangxi and ASEAN, jointly build and share, and establish a media system to promote practical cooperation between China and ASEAN.

Representative of Lao National Television, General Director Amkha Vongmeunka said that Laos and Guangxi have implemented many cooperation projects in the field of media. The two sides will continue to cooperate, seek new topics to strengthen their strength, improve their cooperation capacity to achieve even better results.
