Key Updates in Law on Identification No. 26/2023/QH15
The Law on Identification No. 26/2023/QH15 introduces significant changes to the National Population Database, Identification Database, ID cards, electronic IDs, ID certificates, and the rights, obligations, and responsibilities of relevant agencies, organizations, and individuals.
Notably, the Law expands and integrates additional information of citizens and people of Vietnamese origin in the National Population Database and ID database. It also changes the name from ”citizen ID card” to “ID card” and amends regulations on some information on the card to better reflect reality and provide greater convenience for individuals. Furthermore, the Law includes provisions for people of Vietnamese origin whose nationality has not been determined.
