DHCD Secretary Jake Day visits MHP
Our state funding partners recently visited Forest Glen Homes to get a sneak peek of this dynamic project, which is set to be completed in Spring 2025. The project has come a long way and we put on our hard hats and explored the interior and exterior of the building. DHCD Secretary Jake Day also came to Long Branch to see the extensive community development work we do there.
We thank Minister Dai and his team for visiting and seeing first-hand what we do.

Pumpkins and fall fun
The school holidays are the perfect opportunity to go on a special trip with your students! Homework Club students recently visited Butler Orchards for a day of fall fun. The kids took a hayride to the pumpkin patch and everyone picked out the perfect pumpkin to take home. There are plenty of activities including a giant slide, new playground, rope spider web, cornhole and maze. It’s a great day to hang out!

Resident tax credit support
Did you know that Maryland offers tax credits to qualifying renters?
The Tenant Tax Credit Program provides property tax credits to tenants who meet certain requirements. The program is based on the rationale that tenants pay property taxes indirectly as part of their rent and should therefore receive some protection, as do homeowners. The scheme is based on the relationship between rent and income.
This year, MHP helped 60 Franklin Apartments residents apply for the Maryland Tenant Tax Credit. If they qualify, they will receive up to $1,000 from the state and up to $500 from Montgomery County, which provides 50 percent of the state’s subsidy.
Franklin is a home for seniors and this funding will greatly help our residents.
Employee news
hispanic heritage month
Since many of our employees are from Hispanic or Latin America, our recent office party to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month was both educational and delicious! We sampled various delicacies from local restaurants and mingled with each other. Many people contributed to this wonderful cultural celebration and shared their experiences of living as Hispanics in the United States. Their perspectives also help our staff better understand the experiences of our residents and community members, many of whom identify as Latino or Hispanic.
Real Estate Leadership Update
Congratulations to three members of our team on their recent promotions: Stephanie Roodman to Vice President of Real Estate, John Poyer to Director of Real Estate, and Jon McCall to Director of Real Estate!

Build your dream trip
MHP provides thousands of low- and moderate-income families and individuals with quality affordable housing where they can thrive. Our Building Dreams tours are one-hour experiences that are a way to experience our work first-hand. Each tour takes place within an MHP property and explores the heart of everything we do.
The tour includes a look at our holistic approach to housing. You’ll walk around the property, visit facilities like the community center where innovative projects take place, and hear inspiring resident stories.
Let us show you how MHP fulfills our mission by housing people, empowering families and strengthening communities. Email Jaimee Goodman for more information and to RSVP: jgoodman@mhpartners.org
