On September 24, Japanese Ambassador​ to China⁣ Kenji Kanasugi visited Dalian‌ City,‌ Liaoning Province and held talks with Xiong Maoping,⁢ Secretary of ‌the ‌Dalian Municipal Party Committee. Regarding ‌the ​attack and death of a Japanese schoolboy ​in Shenzhen on September 18, Kenji Kanesugi said, “Business (of Japanese companies) with China is at a major fork ⁢in the road.”

Kanasugi Kenji also expressed his awareness of the problem: “We can only think that the ⁤Shenzhen case ⁣has cast a shadow⁢ on Japan-China relations,” and he ‌explained this to the ⁤media after the meeting.
