US Sunscreen Regulations and FDA GMP Inspection Training for Korean Cosmetics Industry
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety is set to host an ‘Online Training (Webinar) on US Sunscreen Regulations and FDA Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) Inspection Cases’ on September 24, to support the domestic cosmetics industry’s export of sunscreen to the US.
The training aims to address the industry’s requests for guidance on US regulations and FDA GMP inspections, as sunscreens are classified as general drugs in the US, unlike in Korea where they are considered cosmetics (functional). The training will cover guidance on US sunscreen regulations and case studies of FDA GMP inspections.
Junsu Biopharmaceutical Director emphasized the importance of this training, stating that it will contribute to promoting the entry of excellent domestic sunscreens with global quality competitiveness into the US market. He highlighted that the ‘FDA GMP Inspection Case Study Training’ will be particularly valuable for companies preparing to export sunscreens to the US, as it will be taught by field experts who have undergone FDA GMP inspections on sunscreens as a domestic cosmetics manufacturer.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety has been actively supporting the overseas market entry of excellent K-cosmetics by conducting online education (webinars) on regulatory information such as overseas cosmetics licensing procedures, labeling, and safety management obligations. This year, the Global Regulatory Harmonization Support Center has conducted 15 training sessions, with plans to conduct a total of 17 by the end of the year.
The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety plans to continue providing overseas cosmetics-related regulatory information quickly and conveniently, enabling domestic cosmetics companies with excellent K-beauty products to grasp global regulatory information and secure export competitiveness.
