Meet Man, the founding member of a role-playing volunteer group. Man and his team use their love of role-playing to participate in volunteer services and charity performances. By doing so, they are able to bring happiness to others while also pursuing their passion.
“Visiting nursing homes, charity walks, or performing for the disabled, we can use our team’s interests to bring joy to others,” Man explained. “We can use our interests to volunteer and make more people happy, which makes us very satisfied. We can’t be heroes in the real world, but we hope to do a little bit like heroes.”
The United Nations’ 2024 “World Happiness Report” ranked Hong Kong 86th out of 143 countries and regions in terms of life satisfaction. However, individuals like Man and Joman, a mascot actor, are working to change this by spreading joy and positivity throughout their community.

Joman has been working as a mascot actor for over 15 years and has seen firsthand the impact that his work can have on others. “Maybe there is a lot of repression in today’s society,” Joman said. “If we want to find happiness, we must first find the source. When the audience has fun, they actually feel a sense of success. This kind of positive energy can be injected into society.”
By using their unique talents to bring joy to others, these role-playing enthusiasts and mascot actors are making a real difference in their community. Their selfless efforts are a reminder that even small acts of kindness can have a profound impact on those around us.
