Unmasking the Truth: Viewer Media Foundation Takes Aim at Deepfake Crime Prevention
Strengthening Deepfake Crime Prevention Education
The Viewer Media Foundation is taking proactive measures to combat deepfake crimes, a growing concern in recent times. As part of its efforts, the foundation has announced plans to make deepfake crime prevention education a mandatory component of its educational programs in 100 elementary, middle, and high schools across the nation.
The comprehensive course, spanning approximately two hours, will cover essential topics such as understanding deepfake technology, recognizing types of deepfake crimes, and responding to them effectively. Additionally, the course will delve into the ethical use of artificial intelligence, empowering students with the knowledge and skills necessary to navigate this complex issue.
Choi Cheol-ho, chairman of the Viewers’ Media Foundation, emphasized the urgency of addressing deepfake crimes, which are becoming increasingly sophisticated. He stressed the importance of citizens developing their media literacy skills and becoming familiar with the responsible use of artificial intelligence technology.
To further support this initiative, the Viewer Media Foundation plans to create online educational content highlighting the reality and challenges of deepfake crimes. The foundation will also provide counseling services to victims of deepfake crimes through its viewer rights protection platform, Mediin.
