Unraveling the Mystery: Guess This Water Scene!
Here’s an interesting water scene. What does it show? Where is it located? Send your name and guess to: feedback@statehousereport.com.
Last week’s mystery featured the “Wooden walkway” at the Place of Peace in Greenville’s Furman University. This structure was transported from Nagoya, Japan, in 2004. The Hei-Sei-Ji Temple, which it is part of, was the first Japanese temple dismantled in Japan and rebuilt in the United States.
The temple was created in 1984 by Kiyohiro Tsuzuki, a Japanese industrial leader. This temple served his family for important events. Japanese temples usually stay in Japan. However, this one was an exception. It was never given a priest to serve a local community.
A team of seven Japanese wood specialists reconstructed the temple in 2008, using traditional techniques without nails.
Many readers guessed correctly about the temple and its walkway. Congratulations to Jay Altman, Elizabeth Jones, Bill Segars, Pat Corbett, George Graf, David Lupo, and Frank Bouknight.
